Playing The Plaza

Okay, I'll admit it. I've "lost the will" to blog. As I have many times in the past 6 1/2 years, I am dealing with an almost over whelming, intrusive, and paralyzing negative inner monologue. One that tells me that writing about the details of my life and interests is narcissistic and boring.

I realize that we all have "negative" things with which we struggle. We could discuss and debate who or what each of us believe whispers or even shouts them into our ears but not here not now. The end results are the same.

But because I've dealt with this in the past I know that I will, no doubt, overcome it once again. The desire to share something I think is special with someone I believe will enjoy it too will tear down my current mental brick wall. That's when I will start sharing with you again on a "regular" basis.

For now I want to share with you an experience that was positive for me in many ways.

Last Saturday night, I participated in a fund-raising talent show sponsored by the Barren County High School Beta Club.

It was held at the Plaza Theater in Glasgow, which is about 30 minutes northwest of where I live.

This venue is a preserved old time movie house that is now hosts special events and appearances by popular performers.

I saw this as an opportunity to get on the stage (the same stage where Paula and I saw Vicki Lawrence perform as "Mama" a few years ago) and do my ventriloquist act in front of a new and different group of people.

Below is the link to the video of my act on my You Tube channel. Thanks to my wife, Paula, for shooting this.

You can also find it by typing "Playing The Plaza" in the search bar of the You Tube home page. My video should be among the first few that come up.

It's my first public performance of the year and it gets a few good laughs. The biggest one is for a joke I wrote myself years ago. Just getting that laugh was worth the entire experience. I hope you enjoy it.
