A couple of weeks ago I went to Atlanta to meet one of my favorite Disney podcasters, Lou Mongello from WDW Radio.
That experience has been documented in my May 19 and 20 posts.
Lou's passion for Walt Disney World and his personal drive to "live his dream" had led to him having a vault of knowledge about getting the most out of a Walt Disney World vacation.
Well, now he has collected all secrets he's learned through his personal experience and compiled them into a terrific new book called "102 Ways to Save For And At Walt Disney World."
Take it from me, when it comes to planning a trip to Orlando to see "the mouse" you can loose yourself in a labyrinth of information. There's a lot to learn and know.
There are probably more tools and resources for planning a trip to Walt Disney World in print and online than any other vacation destination in the world.
The print and digital book trip planning guides, cover a wide range of content. They start with your basic 100 page primer. You know the "see spot run" version of Walt Disney World vacation guides. On the other end of the spectrum is the 850 page exhaustively detailed guides can send you into Walt Disney World trip planning information overload.
But if you are looking for the easiest planning path with the most money saving benefits, "102 Ways To Save For And At Walt Disney World" is the book I'd recommend.
The things that set this excellent Walt Disney World vacation planning guide is that it is written with those families on a limited budget in mind.
Some of my favorite tips are those that suggest purchasing things before going to Walt Disney World or finding off property alternatives to getting them when you are there.
As a guy who always seems to make food a priority, Lou also gives some excellent recommendations on how to save money on meals during your vacation.
His suggestion to choose "counter service" over "table service" restaurants is a difference maker in and of itself. But his tips on how to save even more at the counter service restaurants goes the extra mile.
With his history of trips to Walt Disney World, as a kid, with his family and now being a man with a family of his own Lou has written this book with a subtext that fosters making a Walt Disney World vacation the best family experience possible.
I can confidently say nearly all of his tips for saving money in order to afford a WDW trip have some aspect to them that allows all members of the family to be involved.
While the tips to use during your trip, primarily seem to benefit and minimize the cost of your vacation; they won't do so at the expense of the quality of the family experience.
In fact I can confidentially assume that when deciding which tips to include in the"102" Lou weighed their value in regard to their potential to facilitate the creation of great memories for the whole family.
The section about the free things to see or do is excellent. I am always interested in suggestions to keep costs down and learning about anything that can be done for little or no money. But then again who isn't?
One thing I want to recommend is that you purchase "102 Ways" in an digital format for your smartphone or table. The internet links that are included in this format are an additional source of gaining information to help you learn even more about saving on your trip.
They also connect you to some of the best WDW radio podcasts that will help you get to know Lou Mongello. I can assure after listening to just a few you will have found a new friend.
As a Walt Disney World fan I have the goal of taking at least three more trips to "The World" in my lifetime. I want one of them to be with my wife; sons and their wives' and, most importantly; my granddaughter. I'd also like to get back again with just my wife. In addition to those, I'd like to, if only for a few days, take a solo trip.
Whether those plans become reality is yet to be seen. But once I decide to make a serious commitment to take any of those trips; the tips in Lou Mongello's latest book are going to be very valuable.
If you are someone who has always dreamed of taking a Walt Disney World vacation but weren't sure you could ever afford it. I highly recommend you buy and read ""102 Ways To Save For And At Walt Disney World". It will help your dream come true.
